John Elway confirmed Drew Lock will be the team's 2020 starter at quarterback. The goal will be to get "something long-term" done with S Justin Simmons. Elway said the team will pick up Von Miller's $18 million club option for 2020. Miller is guaranteed $6 million of said option as early as March 18. He'll also officially account for $26.625 million of Denver's 2020 cap. Elway said the team will look into a new deal for Phillip Lindsay.
Scangarello's reign as Broncos coordinator lasted just one year and three quarterbacks. A member of the Kyle Shanahan coaching tree, Scangarello oversaw one of the league's lowest-scoring offenses, but it was hardly all his fault. The quarterback carousel was compounded by a run-first edict from coach Vic Fangio. Regardless, the Broncos' offense was certainly no one's idea of good.
It's a two-year, $16 million deal with $13.5 million guaranteed. Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman were largely fine in 2019. MGIII is certainly the better pass-down RB from the group, although Lindsay (4.9 YPC) and Freeman (3.9) have had similar-to-better success over their careers on a per-rush basis compared to Gordon (4). This is a complete mess as far as fantasy is concerned, as a committee backfield is incredibly likely unless we see an additional move take place.
