The Miami Herald reports Ryan Fitzpatrick has consistently outplayed Josh Rosen in practice thus far.

That's per reporter Barry Jackson, who also notes that it is Fitzpatrick who continues to receive the first first-team reps. Jackson does not report that Rosen has played especially poorly, just that Fitzpatrick has been better.

Ryan Fitzpatrick worked as the first-team quarterback Thursday at the start of Dolphins training camp.

It's no surprise after Fitzpatrick roundly outplayed Rosen throughout the team's offseason program. The Dolphins need to see what they have in Rosen ahead of what should be a stacked quarterback class in 2020, but coach Brian Flores contends that the starting quarterback job will be entirely based on merit.

Dolphins signed WR Allen Hurns, formerly of the Cowboys, to a one-year contract.

The deal is worth up to $3 million. Hurns suffered a gruesome broken ankle in the Wild Card win over the Seahawks but is apparently back to 100% and ready to roll. He was released by the Cowboys on Tuesday. Hurns played his college ball at The U, so this is a homecoming of sorts.

Dolphins signed DT Robert Nkemdiche to a one-year contract.

Nkemdiche never came close to living up to his first-round pedigree with the Cardinals, but he is exactly the kind of upside flier a rebuilding team like the Dolphins should be taking.

Dolphins signed WR Jakeem Grant to a four-year extension through 2023.

Grant is dripping with big-play ability but hasn't really yet been given an extended look on offense whether that's due to bodies ahead of him or injury.

They’re getting a first-round pick from the Houston Texans in 2020 and that means the Dolphins have two first-round picks in 2020. They’re getting a 2021 first-rounder from Houston and so the Dolphins now have two first-round picks in 2021. They’re getting a 2021 second-round pick from Houston and that means Miami has two second-round picks each of the next two years.

In addition to their own picks in every round except the fifth, the Dolphins should get third- and fifth-round compensatory picks for losing right tackle Ja'Wuan James and Cameron Wake in free agency. They’ll also own the Saints’ second-rounder from a draft day deal which allowed New Orleans to move up to take center Erik McCoy.

They’ll also own the Titans’ fourth-rounder from the deal that sent quarterback Ryan Tannehill to Tennessee.

They’ll also own the Cowboys’ sixth-rounder from the deal that sent defensive end Robert Quinn to Dallas.

They’ll also own the Chiefs’ seventh-rounder from the deal that sent safety Jordan Lucas to Kansas City.
