Redskins coaching rumors: Dan Snyder wants to land Steelers' Mike Tomlin or one of two prominent assistants

Tomlin’s contract in Pittsburgh lasts through 2021 with a club option for the 2022 season. So any discussion surrounding the potential of the Redskins bringing Tomlin to D.C. would involve compensation back to the Steelers.

Redskins LT Trent Williams has ended his holdout and reported to the team on Tuesday.

Williams reported before the trade deadline, meaning the team does not have to apply to the commissioner's office for his reinstatement. Surprisingly not dealt, it's possible Williams and the Redskins had an understanding that he would report if no deal was made. That would help explain his continued presence in Washington. This also prevents his deal from "tolling" a year forward. Perhaps the temperature has been turned down behind the scenes. One of the best tackles in football, Williams is a massive upgrade for an undermanned line, but the 1-7 Redskins' season is already over. Signed through 2020, Williams will be a strong candidate to be dealt in the offseason.

Williams had surgery this offseason to remove a growth from his scalp and felt discomfort when trying on helmets in his return to the team's facilities.
