One AFC general manager told Bleacher Report that he believes as many as 10 teams would be interested in the oft-injured three-time Pro Bowler. That has led to speculation the Panthers may pull off the once-unthinkable and move on from Newton ahead of the NFL trade deadline on Oct. 29. He’s set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2021.

Ian Rapoport reports Cam Newton is considering surgery on his injured foot.

Newton was hoping to avoid this fate but now that he's been ruled out for 2019, the nine-year vet is open to exploring all options. If Newton does decide to go under the knife, a determination that should be made within the next week or two, he'd be facing an 8-10 week recovery. This could very well mark the end of an era as Rapoport believes it's "highly unlikely" Newton will remain a Panther in 2020, noting a trade elsewhere as the "most likely" outcome for the former MVP. Kyle Allen will finish out the year at quarterback for Carolina.
